Every once in a while we run into casting news that is so perplexing, it’s actually quite brilliant.
With that in mind, Danny Trejo will be the voice behind Boots the Monkey in Dora And The Lost City Of Gold, Nickelodeon’s live-action Dora The Explorer full-length film. 2019 is truly the year of absolute wonders.
Trejo announced his great fortune on Twitter alongside the news that a trailer for the film would premiere this Saturday during the Kid’s Choice Awards.
For anyone who has ever been subjected to hours of Dora thanks to an insistent child (or if you just really dig stories about brave girls who get shit done, there’s no shame in that), the Machete actor may not necessarily scream high-pitched furry sidekick. However, the curiosity factor with this choice is far too high for it to really resonate as a bad idea. In fact, Trejo has a chance to add a sort of rough-around-the-edges spin on the infectiously perky primate. Trejo joins Benicio del Toro, who will voice Swiper, the fox with a penchant for stealing.
Dora And The Lost City Of Gold premieres in theaters August 2.
