One could easily argue that Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have already been definitively portrayed at some point in the history of cinema, but that’s only because the world has yet to properly witness Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s Holmes And Watson. Finally, the two weirdos from Step Brothers are starring in a (very loose) adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s mystery stories, and while it doesn’t look like there’s quite as much room for activities as in that modern comedy classic, there are still some good gags here—the very direct parody of Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes is particularly inspired.

Holmes And Watson also features Rebecca Hall, Ralph Fiennes (as Dr. Moriarty), Hugh Laurie (as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft), and Lauren Lapkus, and it was directed by Get Hard’s Etan Cohen. It’ll be in theaters on November 9.
