Pop culture obsessives writing for the pop culture obsessed.

In connection with the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of Nirvana’s third album In Utero, a bizarre 1993 TV promo has surfaced on YouTube. After opening with a shot of raw chickens wearing plaid diapers, the promo depicts comedian Bob “Bobcat” Goldthwait coaching Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl through the most terrifying Lamaze class in the world. The 30 second promo also features a fish-puppet, some unsettling birth imagery, and a reference to placenta soup. Oh, and everyone is in drag. It’s probably not a fitting tribute to Cobain’s last musical project, but it is weirdly entertaining.
