If there’s anybody that knows his way around gory, over-the-top horror, it’s Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, a man who’s been sprayed with more brightly dyed corn syrup than the kids in the front row of an Insane Clown Posse concert. To promote his just-returned Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead, Campbell recently sat down with co-star Lucy Lawless to offer up their opinions on some other entries in the pantheon of great horror movie scenes.
And while the results were a little surprising—Ghost Ship is a better piece of filmmaking than Alien, apparently—it’s mostly just fun to hear the two long-time co-workers dish on guys in masks and the bit where a woman gets turned into a “meat puppet” in Hellraiser III. Plus, the producers slip in a clip from Evil Dead II, prompting Campbell to declare it “a classic motion picture,” even as he and Lawless mock its excessive quantities of blood.
