Yesterday, The A.V. Club reported on the return of Vestron Video with a newly re-mastered Blu-Ray release of Blood Diner. Now Lionsgate has heaped more good news upon VHS collectors who want to keep their prized copies in pristine condition, announcing a slew of titles from the Vestron catalog of “special interest videos, independent films, B-movies and TV movies.”

Lionsgate confirmed that in addition to the Barbara Crampton killer robot flick Chopping Mall (which does not actually feature any chopping) the company will be unleashing re-mastered editions of Brian Yuzna’s kinky Return Of The Living Dead 3, as well as the campy C.H.U.D II: Bud The Chud.

Also of interest is the Waxwork/Waxwork II: Lost In Time double feature, which will be available for a limited time. Artisan previously released a bare-bones DVD set that included Anthony Hickox’s underrated original—a wild tribute to classic monster movies featuring David Warner, Patrick Macnee, and the late Michu Meszaros —and its much sillier sequel that, while featuring Bruce Campbell, suffers from a severe lack of Deborah Foreman.

The 2003 Artisan DVD release, despite being advertised as the R-rated version, is actually the officially released unrated version. But according to Ken Hanley at Fangoria, there was in fact quite a bit more gore cut from the film, and it’s long been rumored that the “unrated version” released to home video was just a failed attempt at an R-rated cut.

If the Chopping Mall and Blood Diner special features are any indication, the rest of the Vestron library will be getting some terrific releases. Chopping Mall and Blood Diner will be available September 27, but no official dates have been set for the rest.
