As reported by Variety, the USA Network has decided to delay the premiere of its Shooter TV show in response to the shootings in Dallas. The network released a statement explaining that it came to the decision “in light of recent tragic events and out of respect for the victims.” Shooter was originally supposed to premiere on July 19, but it has now been bumped back to July 26. The series stars Ryan Phillippe as a veteran and ex-sniper named Bob Lee Swagger who is “wrongly accused of a crime” and is “trying to clear his name.” It’s an adaptation of the 2007 Shooter movie starring Mark Wahlberg, which was an adaptation of the book Point Of Impact.

If the subject matter itself didn’t make it clear why USA doesn’t feel this is a good time for a show about a sniper, the trailer—which you can see below—makes it a little more obvious.
