Should there be any doubt that Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury character will also be appearing in upcoming Marvel movies Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, Jackson himself confirmed on last night’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that he will continue to be a cameo-contributing motherfucker, motherfucker, thereby establishing the “connective tissue” for next year’s The Avengers. You can hear it for yourself in the clip below, during which Jackson also teases that Fury will have an all-new female sidekick in The Avengers, saying he’ll be testing with five actresses for that role tomorrow. No word on what that role will be (though rumors abound that it’s the Wasp), and the only thing known so far about prospective actresses is that Demi Lovato is not one of them, owing to her continuing treatment for “emotional issues.” And obviously, most doctors recommend that those with emotional issues take pains to avoid being yelled at by Samuel Jackson.

UPDATE: Heat Vision is now reporting that the shortlist of actresses includes director Joss Whedon's old pal Morena Baccarin (Firefly, V), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).
