Today's Variety announces the signing of two directors not normally know for their franchise work to helm upcoming chapters in two of the biggest franchises out there: Marc Foster—who's made a name for himself with the quirky quasi-indie comedy Stranger Than Fiction and the Oscar-nominated dramas Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball—will take over the next James Bond film, while Michael Apted (the 7 Up series) will direct The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. (Apted, oddly enough, made one of his only forays into franchises with the Bond film The World Is Not Enough.) What's next, Jon Favreau doing a superhero pic? Oh wait.
