Amid all the talk of new bigger screens and new little watches today came announcement of some other new stuff you can get from Apple—namely, the surprise release of a new album from U2. Songs Of Innocence is available for free right now exclusively for iTunes customers and is the band’s first studio LP since 2009’s No Line On The Horizon. Led by oddly named single “The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone),” the album is available for free download until mid-October—a move that Apple CEO Tim Cook says is part of “the largest album launch of all time.” Bono also told Cook (who he called “Zen master of hard- and software”) that the group was “the blood in [his] machines,” because he’s Bono and that’s the kind of thing Bono does.
