Tyra Banks is returning to reign over America’s Next Top Model, and she’s making some changes to the rules of her domain. Banks announced in a video on Twitter over the weekend that the show will no longer have age limits for its contestants. Previously, the aspiring models had to be 27 or younger, in keeping with the fashion industry’s traditional ageist culture.
”You know what I hear all the time? ‘Tyra, come on! Why have an age limit?’ So, you know what? I’m taking that age limit off,” she said. “You want to audition for America’s Next Top Model? I don’t care how old you are, honey. You just need to know how to smize and be open to learning how to work the runway like a supermodel.” Here’s hoping that some fierce octogenarians join the competition and put those twentysomethings to shame.
