Although it was nowhere near as showy an affair as Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve or Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution, Tom Hardy welcomed 2017 by reading a story on The BBC’s CBeebies program. The Taboo star skipped the throng of admirers and fellow celebrities for a couch on a sound stage, where he was accompanied by some stuffed animals and his ridiculously adorable dog, Woody. But the story he read, Simon Philip and Kate Hindley’s You Must Bring A Hat, is about a couple of parties with strict dress codes, so he didn’t steer entirely clear of those glitzy gatherings.
Hardy renders the children’s tale with dulcet tones that would soothe even the most bedtime-averse kid; just look at the effect they had on his dog. But the Revenant actor and bet loser has some much more adult projects on the horizon. There’s the premiere of Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, as well as his FX drama, Taboo. He’s also set to play Al Capone in Josh Trank’s Fonzo, and is rumored to appear in some capacity in Star Wars: Episode VIII.
