If you’ve never read (or heard of) the sublimely nerdy Scott Pilgrim comics, just trust us that the combination of director Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) and Bryan Lee O’Malley’s indie-rock-and-video-game-obsessed series about the titular twentysomething slacker/defeater of evil is something to be excited about. (Or as the film's tagline puts it, it's "an epic of epic epicness.") Want proof? Check the teaser trailer for Wright’s Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, streaming here, which stuffs more ass-kicking into a 90-second promo than the sum total of every other film that star Michael Cera has been in. (Arrested Development fans, keep an eye out for Mae Whitman, a.k.a. “her?” facing off with Cera once again.)
[edit: now with the video embedded!]
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World comes out Aug. 13, which leaves you plenty of time to catch up on the series—the sixth and final book, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, comes out July 20.
