After three seasons of saving fake lives and driving real editors crazy with its stylized capitalization, TNT has decided to cancel its Jada Pinkett Smith-starring medical drama HawthoRNe. The show was frequently critically savaged as rote, dull, and inessential, even for a medical drama, an indifference that was reflected in its middling ratings, with around 3.6 million viewers tuning in to its season three finale. It did, however, manage to win several NAACP Image Awards and give Marc Anthony a reason to get out of the house. On the bright side, its cancellation should help preserve the sanctity of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage, for which we’ll just go ahead and assume that Will Smith is behind this.
