Given that our grandchildren are already going to look back upon this period in history as essentially one long string of emoji (followed by Miley Cyrus twerking), it’s fitting that the finest minds of our generation turn their attention to the topic of texting enhancement. The New York Times’ web developer, Eric Andrew Lewis, has taken up the proud and noble cause of creating a web tool that turns any image into a mosaic made up of emoji. Naturally, we quickly put it to the test, and yep, it works exactly as expected:
We chose some basic memes for ease of recognition in our little experiment, but the only limit is your imagination, as long as your imagination is made up entirely of easily uploadable images. Next step: turning them into stained-glass windows.
