The third Hobbit movie has a new title

As first hinted at last week, Peter Jackson and New Line have announced that they are changing the title of the third Hobbit film—long pegged as The Hobbit: There And Back Again, in reference to Bilbo Baggins et al. at last completing their Unexpected Journey. But seeing as completing a journey is anathema to The Hobbit film series, the third movie will now be titled The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, in reference to how Led Zeppelin kicks ass.

Jackson shared the news via his Facebook page, noting that calling it There And Back Again made less sense after he split the story into three movies, since Bilbo had already reached his “there” by Desolation Of Smaug. (Indeed, it was inside him all along. But in another way, it was a giant dragon.) However, Jackson also reserves the right to use Tolkien’s There And Back Again subtitle to encompass the whole of the Hobbit journey on its inevitable DVD box set, and any inevitable DVD box set thereafter. The previously rumored subtitle, Into The Fire, can now be reserved for Denny’s Hobbit menu
