Jeremy Saulnier’s punks-vs.-Nazis survival thriller Green Room was one of our favorite films of 2016, earning the No. 3 spot on our annual year-end best-of poll. So needless to say we’ve been eagerly anticipating his next film, Hold The Dark, which takes the survival angle to the extreme by heading to the Alaskan wilderness. Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright stars as Russell Core, a writer and retired wolf expert who’s enlisted to help a young mother (Riley Keough) track down the pack of wolves that took her young son from their home in a remote Alaskan village. The real threat may not be canine in nature, however, but the boy’s father (Alexander Skarsgard), who returns home from fighting in Iraq vengeful and violent over the death of his son.

Hold The Dark premieres on Netflix on September 28.
