Even without Jon Stewart in the anchor chair, The Daily Show continues to be a stepping stone for young comedians. Less than a year after making his debut as a correspondent on the satirical news show, Ronny Chieng is getting his own Comedy Central series. As Splitsider reports, the Malaysian-born comedian is headlining International Student, an autobiographical sitcom he co-created about his time studying law in Melbourne, Australia.

“We all came [to Melbourne] for a few years, we studied, then all my friends left—they went back to Singapore, Malaysia. It almost feels like a dream. I wanted to capture that moment for the record,” he told The Guardian in April, when the show was still just a pilot for Australia’s ABC channel. “You don’t have to be an international student to get this story, I hope, or Asian or a student. This story is about that weird period of life where everyone’s trying to fit in, and it’s OK not to.”

International Student should debut in the U.S. on Comedy Central and in Australia on ABC in June.
