According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes and producer Peter Safran are reteaming for another supernatural thriller. Titled Crucifixion, it’s based on the true story of a priest who was jailed for the murder of a nun after performing an exorcism on her. The film, directed by Hitman’s Xavier Gens, will follow an investigative journalist attempting to determine whether the nun died at the hands of the priest or the devil. And although it’s one of the seemingly annual exorcism movies, producers are expecting that the success of The Conjuring and its spinoff prequel, Annabelle, means Crucifixion will scare up its own substantial profits.
