Contradicting earlier reports that Game Of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal would be playing Pontius Pilate, it seems the casting department for the Ben-Hur remake decided to go with someone with less of a reputation for getting his head smashed into a pulp. Enter Pilou Asbæk: The Wrap reports that the Danish actor, who starred in the 2012 pirate drama A Hijacking, has been added to the cast of the Biblical epic. Joining a bevy of actors that have already been cast, Asbæk can look forward to being the leading candidate for having his name wildly mispronounced during the film’s press campaign. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the remake to one of the biggest Academy Award winners of all time plans to double down on the Jesus stuff this time around, a tactic that has been definitively proven to produce critically acclaimed cinema. It’s scheduled for a 2016 release.
