Jason Jones hasn’t even hit the road with his TV family in The Detour, but TBS has already renewed his new sitcom for a second season. Jones created The Detour with fellow Daily Show alum (and wife) Samantha Bee, whose Full Frontal late-night show was just extended by TBS through the end of the year. Written by Jones, the series takes a “too honest” look at “the family dynamic and the chaos that can erupt from not being honest with the ones we love.” That description certainly suggests many misunderstandings resulting from statements heard out of context, which are the lifeblood of sitcoms. But don’t take our word for it—TBS has already released the premiere episode via its social media accounts. The caption in the Facebook post teases a meeting among strippers, truckers, and children, who have presumably gathered to share travel tips.
The Detour also stars Justified’s Natalie Zea as Jones’ TV wife, while Louie’s Ashley Gerasimovich and newcomer Liam Carroll play their TV kids. The series debuts April 11 on TBS, but you can have a gander at the premiere below.
