New York indie band Texas Is The Reason was one of the best, but shortest lived groups that ruled the emo scene in the mid-’90s. Intraband tension sunk the group just as it was moving to Capitol Records, but it left behind a pair of essential releases, a self-titled EP and 1996’s Do You Know Who You Are?

Both records were big sellers for New York-based hardcore label Revelation Records. The label is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a series of concerts, prompting a few of its stalwart acts to reunite or emerge from hiatus, including Texas Is The Reason. The band headlined the opening night of the Rev 25 festival in New York, and it has since added more than half a dozen shows through April of 2013.

The burst of activity also includes a long-discussed reissue of Do You Know Who You Are? that includes everything the band released and two songs written in 1997 but unrecorded until this year, “Every Little Girl’s Dream” and “When Rock ‘N’ Roll Was Just A Baby.” The latter is currently streaming at; both songs were recorded with J. Robbins earlier this year.

Although Texas Is The Reason reunited for a pair of one-off shows in 2006 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Do You Know Who You Are?, the band claims this is really its last hurrah—at least until the 25th anniversary of the album. So fans should maybe consider planning a trip to New York in the fall of 2021.
