Hulu’s upfront presentation is taking place this morning in New York City, where the streaming service trumpeted its surging subscriber count and announced the renewal of its flagship series The Handmaid’s Tale. It also debuted a new teaser for Castle Rock, its horror anthology series from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams that’s been shrouded in the type of mystery typical of Abrams projects. The trailer doesn’t do a whole lot to dispel that mystery, simply reinforcing the cursed nature of the otherwise picturesque Maine hamlet of Castle Rock, presumably just down the road from the similarly beleaguered Derry. (It is close to Shawshank State Prison, as revealed in the show’s first teaser from last fall.)
André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Billy Skarsgård, Jane Levy, and Scott Glenn all star. Castle Rock debuts on Hulu on July 25.
