In case that rather successful music thing made you forget, Starbucks has also been edging into the movie-promotion business recently. It began with an unsuccessful effort behind last year's Akeelah And The Bee, but hopes are higher for Arctic Tale, an environmental documentary the coffee chain will lend its support to (and make money from, of course). And, of course, there's a soundtrack album involved, which Starbucks' Hear Music label is snapping up. It'll include tracks from Aimee Mann and The Shins, forcing people with good taste into further painful admissions that Starbucks is proving a pretty savvy co-opter. (Variety)
