ABC Studios and Shondaland—the production company/TV empire run by Shonda Rhimes—have acquired the rights to New York-based psychic Suzan Saxman’s memoir The Reluctant Psychic. The book is pretty much what it sounds like, telling the story of Saxman’s path toward becoming a psychic as she uncovered family secrets and saw visions of the dead as a young child.
ABC has confirmed that the Saxman project is in the very early stages of development at ABC Signature Studios, which sells pilots to cable networks and alternative platforms. So, with this project, Rhimes may be extending her powerful reach from broadcast to cable TV, or maybe even streaming; which one, we don’t know. Ask the psychic lady.
