Reminding us that thereā€™s no thoughtful, intimate concept for a genre movie that wonā€™t be met with raucous, desperate cries for ā€œMore!ā€ā€”provided that thereā€™s still money somewhere on the table, at leastā€”Paramount has already announced that itā€™s begun development on a sequel to John Krasinskiā€™s surprise hit horror film A Quiet Place. This is per The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that studio head Jim Gianopulos trotted out the news at CinemaCon this week.

ā€œIf you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, ā€˜Well, I should go work at Paramount,ā€™ā€Gianopulos joked with the Las Vegas crowd. Meanwhile, itā€™s not clear, exactly, what role very funny guy Jim will play in the sequel; A Quiet Place was Krasinskiā€™s directorial debut, but his schedule has already begun to fill up with other projects (not to mention his work on Amazonā€™s Jack Ryan show).

Anyway, please consider this your reserved space for workshopping jokes about what this alleged sequel to A Quiet Place should be called. Weā€™ve already got A Quieter Place, A Loud Place, and A Place With A Perfectly Normal Volumeā€”that oneā€™s a prequelā€”firmly planted on our list.
