Selma Blair has been a powerful presence in any number of film and TV projects over the years, from her early days in movies like Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde, to more recent projects like the bonkers “parents try to kill their kids” horror film Mom And Dad. Today, while discussing her affection for her coworkers on her upcoming Netflix project Another Life, Blair revealed via Instagram that she’s been suffering from a series of health problems over the last 15 years of her career, and has apparently just learned that she’s been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Blair’s post was openly emotional, thanking friends like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. for their support, as well as all the cast and crew of Another Life, who’ve been helping her manage her disability while working on the show. “I am disabled.” Blair writes.I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it.”

Blair—whose other recent projects include a role that promised to be one of the sporadic highlights of the very weird Heathers TV reboot—plays “Harper Glass” on the Netflix sci-fi series, a “media influencer” and journalist hoping to break an Earth-shaking story through sheer force of will.

Multiple sclerosis (which targets the insulating protection on neural axons, preventing them from transmitting signals throughout the body) comes in many forms, and presents patterns of symptoms and attacks that differ widely from patient to patient. Roughly 2.3 million people are affected by the condition across the globe.
