The trailer for M. Night Shayamalan’s Glass debuted this afternoon following a panel about the film at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, featuring Sarah Paulson as a psychiatrist who lays out the backstory for Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy’s characters in the film, all now imprisoned in a mental hospital with a unit especially for, as Paulson puts it, “those individuals who believe they are superheroes.” Considering that the original Unbreakable frames its superpowered premise as a mystery, it’s interesting how upfront this trailer is about that aspect of the film. But we’re sure director M. Night Shyamalan has some surprises in store. He always does.

Glass debuts in theaters on January 19, 2019.
