Since it hasn’t issued a full-length album, Runaway Brother’s status as an indie-punk buzz band came solely from the weighty 7-inch singles it released in 2014. On March 31 the band will release its long-awaited debut album, Mother, on Tiny Engines. The A.V. Club is streaming all of the the album, which sees the Cleveland band in peak form, below. Even though the group often draws comparisons to Philly giants Modern Baseball, Runaway Brother never lives in its shadow. Tracks like “Moth” function like an updated take on Motion City Soundtrack’s golden era, as the band’s nervous energy makes for jittery pop songs that are as catchy as they are complex.
Pre-orders for Mother are available via Tiny Engines.
