Apparently emboldened by their recent Emmy win, Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich will channel that hubris into playing God with their interactive reality show ControlTV, currently being prepped for Digital Broadcasting Group. Instead of allowing viewers to merely criticize another person’s choices, ControlTV will give them a chance to vote in real time on every aspect of a guy’s life, “from what he wears and eats, to where he works, to who he dates”—a sociological experiment that could prove once and for all the old axiom that absolute power corrupts absolutely, or alternately, end up being really boring. And in keeping with its theme of subjection to outside sources, ControlTV will also be one of the most product placement-heavy programs we’ve come across in a while, with its partnership with Ford and Sprint Nextel ensuring that “the guy will drive a 2011 Ford Fiesta, and Sprint’s new HTC EVO 4G phone will also be featured.” This is the future of television.
