After pulling in huge ratings among the coveted under-35 demo, even besting competitors for their attention like the big broadcast networks and “not having children,” Rick And Morty has been given a second season by Adult Swim. The renewal already seemed like a foregone conclusion, given its success on the network and the fact that writer Matt Roller posted a since-removed photo to Twitter of the show’s staff breaking stories for another go-‘round. But now it’s official, accompanied by a statement from co-creator Dan Harmon in which he quips, “I’m relieved to be in a time slot of no strategic value to CBS”—a joke that could become less funny, once Adult Swim starts pushing its programming into primetime. Anyway, one Dan Harmon renewal announcement down, one to go.
