In what turned out to be a lot of something over nothing, rumors that Alison Brie wouldn’t be returning for Community’s sixth season have been officially put to rest. Yahoo has confirmed to Splitsider that Brie would be returning, while Dan Harmon offered his own confirmation on Twitter.
The rumors that Brie might not be returning to the show started when her followers notice she hadn’t tweeted about the show’s renewal, as had most of her fellow cast members. Adding fuel to those, Brie gave a somewhat vague response in an interview with The National Post. An when a fan recently asked Community writer Ryan Ridley if Brie’s character Annie was in the first episode, he tweeted back, “Not sure yet. We just started talking about it.”
Community fans—perhaps still feeling the loss of original cast members Chevy Chase and Donald Glover—took it upon themselves to modify the show’s rallying hashtag #SixSeasonsAndAMovie to #SixSeasonsAndAnAnnie in an attempt to encourage Brie to stick with the show. And while it’s likely that Brie was never even considering leaving the show, those fans should go ahead and call it a win. After all, if anyone needs a sense of stability and control, it’s Community fans.
