Read this: Laurie Anderson wrote another, longer obit for Lou Reed, so get ready to cry some more

Last week, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed’s widow, published a short but moving obit for the singer in her local newspaper, the East Hampton Star. This week, Rolling Stone is running yet another obit from Anderson. It’s much longer and that much more moving, detailing how Reed and Anderson met in Germany, fell in love, and learned to “feel sad without actually being said” through meditation. It details Reed’s illness and passing, which is all very sad, though Anderson writes that she is “so proud of the way he lived and died, of his incredible power and grace,” and says that she believes, “that the purpose of death is the release of love.” The whole thing is here, so grab those hankies, crank Transformer, and get ready for another good cry.
