Variety has the sad news of special effects master Stan Winston's death. After working in television in the 1970s, Winston became one of the industry's A-list effects masters in the 1980s thanks to his work on such films as The Thing, The Terminator, and Predator. Winston's professional winning streak continued for the next two decades via his own work on films like Jurassic Park and A.I. and through the work of Stan Winston Studio. Winston also directed two films, the cult favorite Pumpkinhead and A Gnome Named Gnorm
Winston died after battling multiple myeloma, a plasma cell cancer, for seven years.
