Peelander-Z harnesses ‘80s metal on “Killer Thunder”

Peelander-Z’s latest record, Metalander-Z, finds the weird Brooklyn-by-way-of Japan act trying to harness the power of signature power metal records, from Motley Crue’s Too Fast For Love to Def Leppard’s Pyromania. The band used era-appropriate gear on the record, which is out now on Chicken Ranch Records. If that sounds interesting to you—and it should—check out the track “Killer Thunder,” which The A.V. Club is premiering below. It’s straight up “’80s fun rock,” to use the band’s terms, and captures the record’s time capsule sound perfectly.

Peelander-Z is also about to embark on a 40-date U.S. tour, the schedule for which is below.
