Paul McCartney to release album of "personal favorites" in February

Details are sketchy at the moment, but Paul McCartney announced plans to release an album comprised mostly of covers in February. Promising a glimpse at "the songs which inspired the songs," the not-yet-titled record will focus on McCartney's boyhood favorites, particularly "classic American compositions" that Macca heard his father play on the piano. It appears the record will be McCartney's Great American Songbook move—he'll be backed by pop-jazz singer Diana Krall's band, and produced by Tommy LiPuma, who's worked with Krall, Barbara Streisand, and Anita Baker. McCartney will also be joined by guest stars Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, who play, respectively, on the album's only original songs, "My Valentine" and "Only Our Hearts."
