Paramount appears to be lining up another sexy, space adventure for the crew of the Enterprise. According to Trek Movie, the studio registered the title Star Trek 4 with the Motion Picture Association of America over the weekend, which the publication notes is one of the first things you do when you’re boldly preparing to go where no one (but the casts of your studio’s previous productions) has gone before. This news comes about a year after The Hollywood Reporter learned that Paramount had signed franchise leads Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto to a fourth film (yes, for more hard-won money), though Paramount hasn’t given any other indication that another sequel is in the works. After all, it’s got a new, Bryan Fuller-run series to launch, and some more verses from “Sabotage” to work into its Star Trek Beyond trailers. Nothing’s been green-lit, but if Paramount execs don’t seize this opportunity to make a companion film to Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, then it’s a double dumbass on them.
