Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark making first new album in 24 years

Having recently reunited behind the 2007 re-release of Architecture & Morality, the original lineup of synth-pop pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark is said to be working on its first new album together since 1986’s The Pacific Age. (Following a somewhat acrimonious split, frontman Andy McCluskey released three albums under the OMD name in the ’90s.) When we spoke to co-founder Paul Humphreys back in 2008, he mentioned that the group had just started hashing out ideas for new material, saying it was heading in a “very electronic direction—very experimental and odd.” That’s still the word from Humphreys, according to NME, who also adds that Arctic Monkeys producer Mike Crossey will be behind the boards. The new album, History Of Modern, is due out later this year.
