The little film that could, last year's Once continues to trade on its Oscar-fueled success and is now heading for the Great White Way. Tony-winning producers John N. Hart Jr., Jeff Sine, and Fred Zollo have acquired the theater rights to the low-budget film, and are aiming to premiere the Broadway musical version during the 2010-2011 season. No cast or creative team has been announced, but the stage musical will include songs from screen version of Once, including the Oscar-winning "Falling Slowly," as well as songs written by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for the film that didn't make the final cut. Zollo has also stated that he's hopeful both Hansard and Irglova, as well as the film's writer/director, John Carney, will be involved in some way. [Source]
