Netflix has revived critically beloved television shows and given platforms to a number of respected artists. But for some reason it also continues to invest in the respective careers of Adam Sandler and Kevin James. To that end, it announced yesterday that it’s giving James a stand-up special, which will debut sometime in 2018. The Kevin Can Wait star previously had a Netflix platform in the original film True Memoirs Of An international Assassin, which The A.V. Club faintly praised, calling it “cleverer than the average Kevin James comedy.” He’s also costarring in a Sandler vehicle for the streaming service, Sandy Wexler.
