According to Hitfix, Eddie Murphy will no longer be playing legendary comic Richard Pryor in Bill Condon's upcoming biopic—the role will be tackled by Marlon Wayans. That's correct, the guy who co-wrote Scary Movie, Scary Movie 2, Scary Movie 3, and Scary Movie 4. Oh, and co-wrote and starred in White Chicks. But let's approach with cautious optimism anyway, shall we? Wayans was great in Reqiuem For A Dream, so maybe will good direction from Condon (Dreamgirls, Kinsey, uhh… Candyman II) will coax the needed blend of hilarity and sadness from him. It's a tough road, though, considering that Pryor already made a thinly veiled movie about his own life, Jo-Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, and that there are so many great concert films available, too. But it's an amazing story just the same, so here's hoping they do it justice.
