This tribute to late comedian’s-comedian George Carlin by current comedian’s-comedian Louis C.K. was filmed at a Carlin tribute back in March, but the video’s just making the rounds today. It feels timely, though, as C.K. has been mining the lives and careers of standups to tragicomic effect on this season’s Louie, with episodes focusing on Joan Rivers, Dane Cook, and a fictional, archetypical washed-up comic named Eddie; but this discussion of Carlin’s effect on C.K.’s own work ethic is 100 percent sincere and genuinely moving (Louis gets noticeably choked up at one point)… and yeah, it’s funny, too.
