For a brief moment, Oakland’s Big Kids were primed to become the poster children of the ‘90s indie-rock renaissance. The band’s momentum tapered off in the summer of 2012, leaving fans wondering if-and-when its members would reappear. What surfaces from the Kids’ dissolution is Acid Fast, an act that’s picking up where its forebearer left off. Acid Fast’s debut album Rabid Moon pulls from the wells of Archers Of Loaf and Superchunk, tosses in some urgent male/female vocal work, and eschews predictability to find itself effortlessly dancing between the world’s of punk and guitar-driven indie. The A.V. Club is premiering the Archers-tinged “Tangle” below, coinciding with the band’s label Protagonist Music launching a pre-order for the album.
