A scathingly close brush with death and underwhelming album have made 2013 a disappointing year for Lil Wayne. And now the Southern rapper—whose work this year was recognized by neither the VMAs nor the BET awards—issued an apology to his fans via Twitter Saturday night.


The phrasing is a little off-putting, considering a series of codeine-induced seizures nearly killed Weezy a few months ago. But Wayne nonetheless meant it to be inspiring, a message conveniently timed to just before the release of his Dedication 5 mixtape on Aug. 30, the artwork for which is below.
