Emmys voting is currently underway, which means that a ripe crop of fantasy Emmys ballots and “who will win/who should win” speculation is on its way. Fueling those predictions will be today’s nominations for the TCA Awards, the annual honors bestowed by members of the Television Critics Association (like our own Erik Adams, Danette Chavez, and Gwen Ihnat). As one of the earliest events of the TV awards season, the TCA Awards set the tone for which shows will be fêted throughout the summer and fall.

Last year, the TCA Awards presaged The Handmaids Tales big Emmy wins by awarding it the Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year awards. This year, it’s crowned a (potential) new awards darling in BBC America’s Killing Eve, which leads with five nominations: Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Outstanding New Program, and individual acting nods for stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. (For what it’s worth, The A.V. Club was pretty into Killing Eve as well.) The Americans follows with four nominations, with three each for Atlanta, The Good Place, The Handmaid’s Tale, Barry, and The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselA.V. Club favorites all.

The TCA Awards also added a sketch/variety category for the first time this year, and gave a posthumous nod to Anthony Bourdain for CNN’s Parts Unknown, a nomination we’ll likely see duplicated at this year’s Emmys. (This is Bourdain’s first TCA Awards nomination; he’s been nominated for at least one Emmy every year since 2010.) A full list of nominees for this year’s TCA Awards is below, via Deadline.
