Providing a little glimmer of good (?) news in this otherwise gloomy shitstorm of a Monday, Deadline is reporting that Kevin Bacon is in final negotiations to play the main villain in X-Men: First Class, filling the much-needed role of the foe to be vanquished in the third act while Michael Fassbender’s only mostly evil Magneto works out his own issues. The identity of who that villain might be remains a secret, but since this film takes place during the superheroes’ “school days,” we’re going to irresponsibly speculate and say Bacon will be reprising his Animal House role as Omega pledge Chip Diller, who descends into super-villainy after a particularly humiliating experience with hazing.
