Johnny Depp releasing a record of "pirate ballads, sea songs, and chanteys"

When he’s not busy making Don Quixote movies without Terry Gilliam, Johnny Depp does two things: Listen to blues-rock and think about being a pirate. Luckily, he’s found a new project that allows him to pursue both passions. Back in 2006, Depp captained Rogue’s Gallery, an album of “pirate ballads, sea songs, and chanteys” featuring Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Bono, and Bryan Ferry. Now, based on the rousing semi-success of that record, the seafaring world will be blessed with a sequel. The two-disc Son Of Rogue’s Gallery will sail the briny blue starting Feb. 19, featuring a number of duets between scallywags and plank-walkers like Tom Waits and Keith Richards, Courtney Love and Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop and A Hawk And A Hacksaw, and Patti Smith and Depp himself. A full tracklist is below, for careful perusal over a mug of grog.

The record's opening track, Shane MacGowan, Johnny Depp, and Gore Verbinski's "Leaving Of Liverpool" is streaming now at Rolling Stone.
