Remember the really talented director who made Boyz N The Hood in his mid 20s? What happened to that guy? His name was John Singleton, not to be confused with the other John Singleton whose credits include Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious and the upcoming A-Team movie. Actually, the film version promises to be "less cartoony and more serious" than the TV series. Show creator Stephen J. Cannell says that "not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died," Cannell said. "We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We're not going to do that (in the movie). In this the tone is more dangerous — you can really die. It's very tense and exciting."
