Because why should Charlize Theron have all the fun, Jessica Chastain is preparing to kick some asses (or, more accurately, put a bullet through some asses) in the upcoming action movie Eve. And because you also have to make your own opportunities in this life, Chastain will also produce the film under her shingle Freckle Films, whose participation was presumably a major factor in getting this movie made.
Deadline says that “plot details are being kept under wraps” for the film, but Collider cites anonymous sources saying that the film is about an assassin named Eve (Chastain, obviously) who’s contemplating telling her family the truth about her profession. Complicating matters are her former employers, who threaten to ruin the big family moment by hunting Eve down and killing her. Since this is Serious Actress Jessica Chastain, after all, the film’s also being described as “character driven.”
Eve was written and will be directed by Matthew Newton, whose previous two films, Who We Are Now and From Nowhere both got high marks from The A.V. Club’s critics. Chastain’s currently busy filming It: Chapter 2, where she’s been spotted high-fiving Sophia Lillis, who plays her younger self in the Stephen King horror adaptation.
