According to an exclusive report from EW’s Michael Ausiello, Academy Award-winning actor Javier Bardem will bring his particular carisma en fuego to Glee next season, playing a rock star who befriends wheelchair-bound would-be dancer Artie (Kevin McHale). Bardem himself pitched the idea to director Ryan Murphy, who worked with him on this summer’s Eat Pray Love; Ausiello says Bardem is “an unabashed Gleek,” but somehow we can’t imagine him saying that word. As for what, exactly, Bardem will be doing on Glee (other than contributing to the growing backlash over its increased reliance on stunt casting), the actor says he’ll be doing some “heavy metal—Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.” Sweet, so we’ll be seeing some Baron Rojo numbers?
