Despite cries of protest from all the fans he probably has somewhere, Piper Chapman’s milquetoast former fiancé Larry Bloom won’t be appearing on the next season of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. The last time we saw Larry, who is not in jail, he had begun an affair with Piper’s best friend Polly, who is also not incarcerated. For whatever reason, producers apparently decided that following their story didn’t make a lot of sense on a show about life inside a women’s prison.

Jason Biggs, who plays Larry, spoke about the development to the New York Daily News. “They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment,” he said. “Larry will not be in season three. But there’s always a possibility he can come back.” Luckily, the show is planning to offset this loss by adding new faces like Mary Steenburgen and Mike Birbiglia, as well as bringing back old favorites like Laura Prepon and Lori Petty. Hopefully these changes will make the show worth watching, even if Larry isn’t around.
